Students for Open Source is a student organization at Georgia State University, sponsored by the Department of Computer Science. Students for Open Source is dedicated to the promotion of free and open source software (FOSS). Some of the software we promote and support on campus includes:
During the 2007-2008 academic year, we will attempt to have meetings once or twice per month. Anyone is invited to attend, and there are no dues or fees for doing so. We also welcome guest speakers, and will be happy to try to answer any technical questions you may have at the time. While we will all do the best we can to help with any FOSS/Linux issue, we are all volunteers and do not provide any guaranteed service or support.
Students for Open Source also provides an opportunity for like-minded students to meet each other and get to know each other. In doing so, we hope to foster a stronger sense of community among Linux and Open Source users throughout the Georgia State community.
We now have an email list available for anyone interested in SOS. Please see the mailman info page for details.
